Ocwen, PHH Fight Intervention In $12M Mortgage Fees Suit

Law360 (September 28, 2020, 4:45 PM EDT) -- PHH Mortgage Corp. and Ocwen Loan Servicing LLC fought an attempt by a group of lawyers with similar complaints against the companies to intervene in their $12.6 million deal with consumers over claims the mortgage services charged illegal processing fees for making payments over the phone or online.

Counsel for the individuals attempting to weigh in on the settlement are simply seeking to control the class and receive class counsel fees, the companies told a Florida federal judge Tuesday, noting that the attorneys waited until a settlement appeared imminent before moving to intervene.
