Domino Developer Must Pay Partner's Legal Fees, Judge Says

By Eric Hornbeck (September 27, 2013, 4:31 PM EDT) -- Developer Katan Group LLC must pay $1 million in legal fees to its erstwhile joint venture partner in Brooklyn's Domino Sugar factory site for three lawsuits that sprang up from the sale of the site last year, a New York state judge ruled Thursday.

Judge Eileen Bransten confirmed a referee's report recommending that Katan Group pay the fees to CPC Resources Inc., the for-profit subsidiary of nonprofit Community Preservation Corp., which sold the East River waterfront site to Two Trees Management Co. LLC last year over Katan's objections.
