Jury Mostly Clears Sears In Employee Discrimination Suit

Law360, New York (July 3, 2017, 3:23 PM EDT) -- A California federal jury on Thursday gave Sears Roebuck & Co. an almost total win in a suit alleging employment discrimination over the firing of a loss-prevention specialist who was stabbed in the line of duty.

The jury found that Sears did not commit most of the abuses alleged when it fired Pasadena loss-prevention associate Daniel Veloz a fortnight after he returned to work following a month of recovery from being stabbed by a thief.
