CFTC Starts Insider Trading Task Force, Sues Energy Broker

Law360 (September 28, 2018, 7:57 PM EDT) -- The Commodity Futures Trading Commission announced Friday that it has created an insider trading task force, the same day the agency accused a Houston-based energy commodities broker of using clients’ trading information to help a friend make money.

Andrew Gizienski, 36, allegedly used his position as a broker with EOX Holdings LLC to misuse information about other clients’ trades. The CFTC says that Gizienski brokered large private trades in energy commodities known as block trades, and that he used the information to trade against those clients on behalf of a trader friend he wanted to work for.
