K&L Gates Can't Duck $100M Nanotech Malpractice Suit

Law360 (October 16, 2020, 9:10 PM EDT) -- The Texas Supreme Court on Friday denied a bid from K&L Gates LLP to undo a lower court's ruling that it can't escape a $100 million malpractice suit filed by nanotechnology company Quantum Materials Corp.

The state's highest court on Friday did not detail its reasons for denying the petition by K&L Gates to review a March ruling by a three-judge court of appeals panel, which found the company had made a prima facie case that the law firm violated its fiduciary duty to Quantum and engaged in a conflict of interest.
