MLB Players' Suit Over Al Jazeera's PED Doc Moves Forward

Law360, Los Angeles (March 31, 2017, 10:14 PM EDT) -- A D.C. federal judge on Friday allowed a defamation suit from Major League Baseball stars Ryan Zimmerman and Ryan Howard to move forward against Al Jazeera America LLC over a controversial 2015 documentary about performance enhancing drugs, while removing an undercover investigator from the case.

The players sued several Al Jazeera entities, journalist Deborah Davies and undercover investigator Liam Collins in response to 2015 documentary “The Dark Side” over a scene that showed Charles Sly, an employee at an anti-aging clinic, saying he sold PEDs to several star athletes, including the plaintiffs.
