Sprint Accuses AT&T Of Misbranding Older Network As 5G

Law360 (February 8, 2019, 7:14 PM EST) -- Sprint Corp. has told a New York federal court that AT&T Inc. is tricking customers into thinking it already has the much coveted fifth-generation network, or 5G, by rebranding a fourth-generation network as “5GE” and flooding the marketplace with ads about it.

While no carriers yet offer 5G, Sprint said Wednesday that AT&T is pretending it does with its deceptive ad campaign, which includes television and internet advertising, as well as an iPhone software update that will show "5GE" as the network on AT&T customers’ smartphone screens.
