$2.5B HP Computers Contract Has Big Problems, NASA Says

Law360, Los Angeles (February 5, 2014, 6:05 PM EST) -- NASA’s $2.5 billion computer services contract with Hewlett-Packard has run into serious problems with enough blame for both sides, according to a report by NASA’s inspector general released Tuesday that detailed HP’s failure to upgrade computers as promised and NASA’s decentralized decision-making.

NASA Inspector General Paul K. Martin wrote the report, dated Jan. 30, as NASA decides whether to exercise a three-year extension to the deal, which is set to expire in 2015. HP was to provide uniform information technology services under the contract with NASA,...
