Rights Groups Press 2nd Circ. To Flip Vimeo DMCA Rulings

Law360, New York (July 31, 2014, 7:22 PM EDT) -- A group of digital media rights organizations told the Second Circuit on Wednesday to reverse a ruling that video sharing service Vimeo LLC could be liable for copyright violations for user content, saying the ruling could burden online service providers with massive liability and chill artistic expression.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation and four other nonprofit organizations urged the Second Circuit in an amicus brief to reverse two decisions by U.S. District Judge Ronnie Abrams that leave Vimeo open to liability for user-generated content.
