Deals Rumor Mill: Verizon, Apex Technology, Mediaset

By Benjamin Horney (April 7, 2016, 7:39 PM EDT) -- Verizon Communications Inc. will make an offer for Yahoo Inc.'s web business as soon as next week, Bloomberg reported on Thursday, and the company may place a bid for Yahoo's Japanese subsidiary as well. Rumors that Yahoo was on the precipice of some pretty major sales have persisted since the beginning of this year, with some reports saying the company plans to sell between $1 billion and $3 billion worth of patents, property and other noncore assets. Yahoo has been reportedly receiving a number of preliminary takeover proposals after pressure from shareholders, including activist investor Starboard Value LP, began bubbling early this year. Prospective suitors have included Time Inc., Comcast Corp. and AT&T Inc., among others....
