Carr's 5G Jobs Plan To Partner FCC With Colleges, Carriers
By Kelcee Griffis (April 25, 2019, 4:30 PM EDT) -- A newly announced initiative to train more infrastructure workers for the fifth-generation era will include partnerships with community colleges to set up low-cost training programs and will focus on schools that specialize in trade skills such as electrical line work and those close to military bases, according to Federal Communications Commissioner Brendan Carr.
In an interview Thursday, Carr told Law360 that his initiative, announced last week, is an informal,collaborative effort at the agency, colleges such as South Carolina's Aiken Technical College and certification body National Wireless Safety Alliance.
