FCC Broadcast Spectrum Auction Wraps Up At $19.8B

Law360, New York (March 31, 2017, 4:56 PM EDT) -- The Federal Communications Commission has concluded the assignment phase of part of its broadcast incentive auction, raising the overall price tag on spectrum that will be repurposed for wireless use by about $136 million to $19.8 billion.

The auction’s “clock phase” ended Feb. 10, ushering the agency into the now-concluded “assignment phase.” As of Feb. 10, the auction had racked up $19.6 billion in bids in a process to clear 84 MHz of spectrum set to be repurposed.
