What To Expect At The FCC's August Meeting

Law360, New York (July 31, 2017, 8:02 PM EDT) -- The Federal Communications Commission is set to consider initiatives for extending broadband service to underserved areas at its open meeting on Thursday, according to a recently released agenda.

The agency will consider proposals for a Connect America Fund reverse auction and new eligibility requirements for the Mobility Fund, reflecting Chairman Ajit Pai’s designation of August as Rural Broadband Month. Both funds are directed at providing subsidies to bring voice and internet services to hard-to-reach areas that don’t yet have access, according to the agency.
