Former Texas Justice Is Running For State Attorney General

Law360 (June 14, 2021, 7:08 PM EDT) -- Former Texas Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman is mounting a campaign to challenge beleaguered incumbent Attorney General Ken Paxton and the nephew of former President George W. Bush in the Republican primary for Texas attorney general.

The longtime judge announced her resignation last week and formally stepped down from the bench Friday afternoon. She then filed documentation with the Texas Ethics Commission indicating she has appointed a campaign treasurer, as initially reported by the Texas Tribune. Filing the form is required before a candidate can spend or raise money for a campaign.
