Devon Energy's Oil Deed Suit Stays Dead In Texas

By Jess Krochtengel (October 30, 2014, 4:59 PM EDT) -- A Texas appeals court on Thursday refused to revive a Devon Energy Corp. unit's suit over oil and gas assets in Louisiana, saying a trial judge had properly dismissed the suit for lack of jurisdiction and allowing KCS Resources LLC to pursue attorneys' fees.

At issue is the scope of the mineral interests in DeSoto Parish, Louisiana, that Devon Energy Production Co. LP sold to KCS in a 2005 deal, which became the subject of litigation in Texas and Louisiana courts, though the Louisiana case has been stayed pending completion of the Texas case.
