Former Georgeson Advisers Get Mistrial After Juror’s Exit

Law360, Boston (March 19, 2018, 8:53 PM EDT) -- A Boston juror’s family emergency led to a mistrial Monday in a bribery case against four former corporate advisers at Georgeson LLC, despite calls from both sides to move forward with a smaller panel.

The trial stopped a day short of closing arguments and after three weeks of evidence against Michael Sedlak, Richard Gottcent, Charles Garske and Donna Ackerly. All four are charged with wire fraud and conspiracy to swap about $12,000 worth of sports and concert tickets to lay eyes on votes on shareholder proposals at some of the world’s largest public companies as they rolled in.
