Reporter Wants Tapped Call Blocked From DA Corruption Case

By Juan Carlos Rodriguez (April 11, 2013, 5:04 PM EDT) -- A Texas newspaper reporter on Thursday asked a federal judge overseeing the trial of an allegedly corrupt district attorney to suppress a telephone call between her and a former state judge who was convicted of racketeering, claiming the conversation was improperly monitored by federal agents.

Emma Perez-Trevino and her employer The Valley Morning Star say Perez-Trevino was recorded discussing a court case with former Texas state judge Abel Limas on Feb. 22, 2008, and that the conversation has been introduced in the trial of former Cameron County District Attorney Armando Villalobos, violating her privacy and constitutional rights.
