House Panel Takes First Step To Avoid Shutdown

Law360, Washington (December 6, 2017, 9:31 PM EST) -- The House of Representatives took a step Wednesday toward avoiding a government shutdown this weekend, even as congressional leaders and the White House have yet to nail down a final deal for a temporary spending package.

In a vote Wednesday, the House Rules Committee put together a temporary funding package that will keep the government open through Dec. 22 and include additional temporary Children’s Health Insurance Program funding, which expired at the beginning of October.
