Movie Studios Win Sanctions Against RealNetworks

Law360 (May 6, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Several movie studios embroiled in a copyright battle with RealNetworks Inc. over a DVD-copying program — including Paramount Pictures Corp., Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp. and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. — have won sanctions against RealNetworks for spoliation of evidence.

Judge Marilyn Hall Patel of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on Monday partially granted the studios' motion for sanctions.
