Charter Fired Up Over DirecTV Attack Ads

Law360 (May 12, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Bankrupt cable company Charter Communications Inc. has taken action against DirecTV Inc., alleging that the satellite programming company has falsely represented Charter as being in liquidation in advertisements by implying that the company is a “sinking ship” or “going up in flames.”

Charter entities Charter Communications Holding Co. LLC and Charter Communications Operating LLC filed a complaint Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri accusing DirecTV of violating false advertising provisions under the Lanham Act, among other claims.
