5Pointz Owner Appeals $6.75M Graffiti Ruling To 2nd Circ.

Law360 (February 21, 2018, 6:52 PM EST) -- A New York City real estate developer who demolished the famed graffiti space 5Pointz filed an appeal Wednesday to the Second Circuit of a ruling last week that he must pay $6.75 million for his act of “revenge.”

Developer Jerry Wolkoff lodged a formal notice of appeal Wednesday, setting the stage for what will be a closely watched appellate case over the Visual Artists Rights Act, an obscure copyright amendment that shields art from destruction.
