Oct. Bailout Was Forced On Banks: Documents

Law360 (May 14, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The heads of America's nine largest banks were coerced by federal officials into accepting $125 billion in bailouts at a meeting in October, newly released documents show.

Judicial Watch, which describes itself as "a conservative, nonpartisan educational foundation" that investigates government corruption, used a Freedom of Information Act request to obtain hundreds of pages of documents related to the pivotal meeting presided over by former Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and current Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.
