Sugar Co. Worker Wins $13.4M Jury Award Over Harassment

Law360 (March 5, 2018, 9:22 PM EST) -- American Sugar Holdings Inc. discriminated against an employee when it created a hostile work environment because she was a woman, a New York federal jury found Friday, awarding the employee $13.4 million in damages.

The jury unanimously agreed that American Sugar employee Rosanna Mayo-Coleman proved the company created a hostile work environment on the basis of her sex in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the New York State Human Rights Law.
