'Pepe The Frog' Artist Sues Infowars Over Copyrights

Law360 (March 6, 2018, 4:23 PM EST) -- The creator of Pepe the Frog — a cartoon that has become an online symbol for the so-called alt-right movement — made good Monday on his threats of copyright litigation over the character, filing an infringement lawsuit against the far-right news website Infowars.

Represented pro bono by the firm WilmerHale, Matt Furie has been waging a public campaign to reclaim his “peaceful frog-dude” for months, sending takedown requests and cease-and-desist letters, warning sites to “stop using Pepe the Frog or prepare for legal consequences."
