Allstate Not Racketeer In Insurance Bill Suit: Judge

Law360, New York (May 19, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Two car insurance purchasers did not show that allegedly deceptive Allstate Insurance Co. bills violated the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, a judge said in an order partially dismissing class action claims against the insurer.

In an order filed Friday, Judge James Ware of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California whittled down claims against Allstate Insurance and the related Allstate Indemnity Co. by dismissing with prejudice a claim of RICO violations.
