Game Over For V-Chip Patent Claims Against Nintendo

Law360 (June 2, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has granted summary judgment in favor of defendant Nintendo of America Inc. in a patent case, ruling the video game giant was right when it claimed its Wii console "has essentially nothing in common" with V-chip adult-content censoring technology.

The order, issued Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, saw Nintendo overcome opposition from plaintiff Guardian Media Technologies Ltd., which argued, among other things, that Nintendo’s motion was premature because no discovery had been conducted.
