Trump's Judicial Picks Reflect 'Hateful' Speech, Groups Say

By Danielle Nichole Smith (May 23, 2018, 6:30 PM EDT) -- The Center for American Progress, Alliance for Justice and the National Immigration Law Center, along with more than 70 organizations, sent a letter to the U.S. Senate on Wednesday expressing "serious concerns" about five lifetime judicial nominations, arguing that they reflected President Donald Trump's "dangerous, hateful and anti-immigrant rhetoric."

The organizations wrote to Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., that they were alarmed by the nominees' records, which they said showed opposition to legal protections for immigrant communities.
