Atty Gets 8 Years For Aiding Payday Lending Scheme

Law360 (May 25, 2018, 5:43 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge sentenced an attorney to eight years in prison Friday for his role aiding a massive scheme to collect on hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of illegal payday loans channeled through Native American tribes.

In addition to prison time that Wheeler Neff, 69, got following his November racketeering and fraud conviction, the Delaware-based attorney was ordered to forfeit more than $356,000 in criminal proceeds. U.S. District Judge Eduardo C. Robreno issued Friday's decision.
