DirecTV User Fights Arbitration Bid In Billing Privacy Suit

Law360 (June 12, 2018, 7:57 PM EDT) -- A former DirecTV and CenturyLink subscriber fought Monday to keep his proposed class action accusing the companies of breaching customers' privacy in federal court, arguing that arbitration clauses in his customer agreements weren't enforceable.

The consumer who brought the suit, James Jantos, urged a Washington federal court to reject the companies' bid to make him arbitrate the dispute. Jantos maintains that the agreements he signed for his bundled service from the telecom providers illegally limited his ability to seek remedies under federal communications law.
