Canadian Settles US Insider Trading Claims

Law360, New York (June 10, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The husband of a former employee of Merrill Lynch Canada Inc. has agreed to settle U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission claims that he was involved in an insider trading scam.

The SEC filed a complaint Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York alleging that Michael Goodman, the husband of a former Merrill Lynch administrative assistant, and two of his business associates, Phillip Macdonald and Martin Gollan, all Canadians, improperly traded in the securities of several companies ahead of public announcements...
