$140M Verdict Against AbbVie In Testosterone MDL Tossed

Law360 (July 5, 2018, 5:50 PM EDT) -- An Illinois federal judge vacated a $140 million verdict against AbbVie Inc. from the second bellwether in multidistrict litigation over testosterone products on Thursday, saying the jury’s finding for the company on the case’s strict liability claim threw a wrench in the rest of its verdict.

U.S. District Judge Matthew Kennelly agreed with the Illinois-based pharmaceutical company that the jury’s finding for AbbVie on strict liability at the end of the October trial clashed with its finding for plaintiff Jeffrey Konrad on his negligence claim.
