Judge OKs $550K Deal In OT Suit Against Car Mat Co.

Law360 (August 10, 2018, 4:24 PM EDT) -- An Illinois federal judge on Thursday signed off on a $550,000 deal ending a collective action alleging vehicle floor mat maker WeatherTech illegally denied full overtime wages to more than 1,000 current and former workers.

U.S. District Judge Charles Kocoras said worker Martin Kusinski's deal with MacNeil Automotive Products Ltd., which does business as WeatherTech, is "fair, adequate and reasonable" and in his and the class' best interests.

The deal will pay Kusinski an award of $7,500. His counsel, Illinois-based Fish Law Firm PC, will get one-third of the settlement plus about $3,000 in costs, or about $186,000 total. The workers...
