Dismissal Of Ticor Overcharge Class Action Upheld

Law360, New York (June 18, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal appeals court has upheld the dismissal of a class action accusing Ticor Title Insurance Co. of charging excessive rates for title insurance policies during home refinancing transactions and sharing the money with local agents in violation of federal and Maryland law.

Thursday's published decision, in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, affirmed a district court ruling that the lawsuit was not properly brought under the federal Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act.
