Treasury, EPA Lodge Protest Over Quebecor Plan

Law360, New York (June 25, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. government has balked at the reorganization plan put forth by Quebecor World (USA) Inc., arguing that it would unfairly release nondebtors from claims and liabilities — including more than $150 million in Clean Air Act penalties and several million dollars in taxes — owed to U.S. agencies.

On Wednesday, the U.S. government filed its objection with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, taking issue with the debtor's attempt to let many third parties off the hook.
