Calif. High Court To Take On Casino Tip-Pool Case

Law360, New York (June 26, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The California Supreme Court has agreed to hear a class action challenging the creation of a tip pool requiring card dealers at a Northern California casino to share tips they get from winning players with other employees.

The state high court on Thursday granted review to a class of 78 current and former card dealers from Artichoke Joe's Casino in San Bruno, Calif., who claimed the tip pool violated the state's labor code allowing employees to keep their own tips.
