Workers Can't Sue Wal-Mart For Missed Meals

Law360, New York (September 27, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Dealing a blow to thousands of employees in the unpaid wages class action lawsuit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc., a judge has ruled that the workers cannot sue over missed meal breaks.

Massachusetts Superior Court Judge Thomas Murtagh threw out the meal break claims, ruling that the workers could not pursue them because the section of state law invoked by their attorneys did not specifically give the employees the right to sue their employer.
