Law360 (November 19, 2018, 8:04 PM EST) -- The New Jersey Appellate Division on Monday shut down a fired accountant’s bid to get back her job at a real estate management company, reasoning in a published decision that “at-will” workers have no reasonable expectation of continued employment.
The three-judge panel’s decision dealt a blow to Nancy Van Istendal, who alleged that her September 2015 termination for unspecified reasons from Metro Commercial Management Service Inc. was without cause. The allegation came as a counterclaim in Metro’s suit seeking to compel her to share her stock shares in the company per the agreed-upon appraisal method for terminated employees.
