Ed Sheeran Must Face Trial Over Marvin Gaye Song

Law360 (January 3, 2019, 9:04 PM EST) -- A lawsuit claiming Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" infringes Marvin Gaye's iconic "Let's Get It On" is headed for a jury trial after a New York federal judge refused Thursday to decide the case.

In refusing to grant Sheeran summary judgment on the accusations lodged by the heirs of "Let's Get It On" co-writer Ed Townsend, the judge said there were a number of disputed facts that would need to be decided with a jury trial.
