Broadcom Appeals Antitrust Case Against Qualcomm

Law360, New York (October 3, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In the latest event in the long-running dispute between two Californian telecom companies, Broadcom Corp. has appealed last month’s dismissal of its federal antitrust lawsuit against rival Qualcomm Inc.

Broadcom said the dismissal by a U.S. District Judge in New Jersey was based on an incorrect reading of antitrust law and is directly at odds with established precedent.

“Qualcomm is recognized globally for its unfair and anti-competitive practices, including reneging on promises to license its patents on fair, reasonable and nondiscriminatory terms,” said David A. Dull,...
