Telecom Urges NY Court To Keep Antitrust Suit Out Of Texas

Law360 (February 21, 2019, 4:43 PM EST) -- Metaswitch Networks Ltd. is urging a New York federal court not to transfer to Texas a case accusing Ribbon Communications Inc. of lodging a series of sham patent suits as a way to eliminate competition, saying the litigation has no connections to the state.

In asking for the transfer, Ribbon had said Metaswitch’s decision to lodge its antitrust claims in Manhattan was an instance  of “classic forum shopping” and argued that Texas federal court is the appropriate venue because the competitors have hashed out patent disputes there for years.
