Judge Casts Doubt On 'Shitty Media Men' Defamation Suit

By Stewart Bishop (March 1, 2019, 9:31 PM EST) -- A Brooklyn federal judge on Friday took a dim view of a defamation lawsuit filed by writer Stephen Elliott against journalist Moira Donegan after he was named on an internet list of "Shitty Media Men" who have been accused of sexual misconduct, saying it will likely come up short.

At an afternoon conference ahead of an anticipated dismissal motion, U.S. District Judge LaShann DeArcy Hall said Elliott's suit appears to have "a problem" with respect to pleading the requisite malice needed to sustain a defamation claim.
