VirnetX Defends $600M Patent Win Over Apple At Fed. Circ.

By Kevin Penton (March 4, 2019, 8:48 PM EST) -- VirnetX on Friday urged the Federal Circuit not to disturb a nearly $600 million patent award it won against Apple over Apple's FaceTime and VPN On Demand, arguing that a Texas federal jury heard sufficient evidence to support its finding that the technology giant infringed VirnetX's patents.

Arguments by Apple Inc. that the Eastern District of Texas jury verdict should be tossed because its redesigned programs do not infringe VirnetX Inc.'s patents "lack merit," along with its contentions that damages should have been reduced to reflect a supposed "limited infringement," according to VirnetX's opening brief.
