Telecom's NY Antitrust Suit Against Rival Sent To Texas

Law360 (March 6, 2019, 6:06 PM EST) -- A New York federal judge has transferred Metaswitch Networks' case accusing Ribbon Communications Inc. of lodging a series of sham patent suits as a way to eliminate competition to Texas, ignoring Metaswitch's claims that the litigation has no connection to the state.

U.S. District Judge Gregory H. Woods said that because Metaswitch Network Ltd. has an office in the Eastern District of Texas and because the parties have a history of litigating prior patent disputes in that district, a transfer was warranted.
