Facebook Sues Ukranian App Developers Over Data Scraping

By Dave Simpson (March 8, 2019, 10:06 PM EST) -- Facebook Inc. has accused two Ukrainian app developers in California federal court of deceiving app users into installing malicious browser extensions that scrape information from their social media profiles and inject ads when they visited social networks, including Facebook.

The social media giant claims that between 2016 and 2018, Kiev-based Gleb Sluchevsky and Andrey Gorbachov operated under aliases and created at least four apps called "Supertest," "FQuiz," "Megatest," and "Pechenka," which they used to collect users' data and place unauthorized ads on their Facebook news feeds.
