$3M Jury Award To Fired Scientist Trimmed As 'Too Generous'

Law360 (March 18, 2019, 9:34 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge on Monday pared down a jury award of nearly $3 million to a former PPG Industries Inc. scientist for her wrongful termination, saying the panel had been “too generous” in granting 10 years of front pay.

U.S. District Judge Billy Roy Wilson said the October jury verdict, which was advisory in certain respects, had gone too far in awarding the decade of front pay to Carol Knox, a chemist who worked for the Pittsburgh-based paint and coating company for more than two decades before her 2013 firing.
