Anesthesia Disaster Means $8.5M Award For Patient's Family

Law360 (March 22, 2019, 9:55 PM EDT) -- An Illinois state jury has awarded $8.5 million to the family of a man who died from a fatal dose of anesthesia during surgery at Heartland Regional Medical Center, according to a verdict form provided by the family's lawyers.

The jury of 12 awarded the money Wednesday over the death of 60-year-old Lowell Williamson on Aug. 19, 2013, after a catastrophic anesthesia procedure on Aug. 12, 2013, at the start of a planned shoulder surgery for Williamson.
