Aetna Privacy Violation Suits Booted From Pa. To Calif.

Law360 (April 1, 2019, 7:02 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge has agreed to move a string of lawsuits accusing Whatley Kallas LLP, Consumer Watchdog and a settlement administrator of inadvertently revealing the HIV status of more than 10,000 Aetna Inc. members through a bungled class action settlement mailing.

In decisions in two separate cases Friday, U.S. District Judge Juan Sanchez ruled that Aetna's claims against Kurtzman Carson Consultants LLC and the two firms belonged in California federal court because that was where the bulk of the work on the botched settlement, which spawned its own string of lawsuits and an eventual $17 million accord, had taken place....
