Ashley Judd's Weinstein Suit Put On Hold For Criminal Trial

Law360 (April 3, 2019, 2:48 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge has paused actress Ashley Judd's suit claiming Harvey Weinstein launched a smear campaign that kept her from being cast in "The Lord of the Rings" after she rebuffed his sexual advances, staying the case until Weinstein faces a criminal trial in New York.

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Philip S. Gutierrez granted the disgraced movie mogul's bid to stay the "Double Jeopardy" star's defamation suit until he is finished with a criminal trial on charges that he sexually assaulted two women.
