NJ Jury Tells LG To Pay $45M In Video Display Patents Row

Law360 (April 12, 2019, 8:23 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey federal jury on Friday found that LG willfully infringed a patent owned by Maxell and Mondis Technology relating to plug-and-play technology for television displays and awarded $45 million in damages.

After deliberating for roughly three and a half hours across two days, the Newark jury returned with a verdict finding that Maxell Ltd. — formerly known as Hitachi Maxwell Ltd. — and Mondis are owed $45 million in royalty damages for LG Electronics Inc.'s and LG Electronics USA Inc.'s infringement, and that the infringement was willful.
