Jury Deadlocks On NJ GOP Bigwig's Tax Evasion Charge

Law360, Trenton (April 17, 2019, 1:12 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey federal jury deadlocked Wednesday on whether or not local Republican chair and attorney George Gilmore dodged more than $1 million in tax debt while blowing his firm’s money on lavish living, but he could still face prison time from guilty verdicts on employee payroll tax violations and filing a false bank loan application.

The mistrial on the tax payment evasion charge ended nearly three days of deliberations after an eight-day trial in Trenton in which the government made a case that the Gilmore & Monahan PA partner and Ocean County Republican Party chair used "deceit, concealment and lies"...
